Agago: Monitoring report on Gender Based Violence launched

The monitoring report conducted by Mentors and Role Model Men under ‘WAY’ program in support by Care International has been launched in Agago District.

The report was launched during a stakeholders meeting on Friday.

Among the activities covered in a monitoring report by Mentors and Role Model includes sexual reproductive health rights services (SRHRS), Campaign against Gender Based Violence-GBV in both schools and community, Women, Adolescent and Young Girls(WAY) .

Among the success stories presented were, improvement in saving culture by groups members, reductions in drinking habits while others had even stop drinking alcohol completely, promotion of unity among youths for development through dialogue meeting, Children that had stop schooling had finally resumed studying among others activities.

When closing the stakeholders meeting, the Agago Deputy Resident District Commissioner Cosmas James Okidi was very impressed with the project manager Care International especially on success stories and testimonies delivered in a meeting about how communities are being transform into productive human being.

The DRDC further pledged to pay a courtesy visit to home of the changed communities members and appealed to office of the CAO to involves the changed members to benefits from government programs such as Emyooga and PDM among others project, as a way of encouraging others members of society to change their life style.

Mr Okidi also urged local leaders to ensure that children who gave birth during COVID-19 be sent back to school.

“There is need to strengthen referral pathway in order to reduce early marriages, teenage pregnancy, GBV and defilement in Agago district,” said DRDC.

He also advised CARE to train more Mentors to cover a wider population in the district.

“The government under the leadership of His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will continue providing peaceful environment for social economic transformation.”
