Lightning kills four in Kanungu district, others severely injured

Four people have died after being struck by lightning in Kanungu district. Two others were severely injured after lightning struck at around 4pm at Kyashamiro trading centre, Rutenga sub county as they removed they had spread out side in the trading centre for sun drying.

The deceased include: Kanyonyi Hebert, 38; Byukama Son, 40; Niwamanya Avitus 20; and Akandwanaho Fred, a 13-year-old pupil at Kyashamiro Church School.

All the deceased hail from Mafuga parish, Rutenga Sub County.

According to the Kigezi police spokesperson Elly Maate, the injured were allegedly taken to the unknown hospital.
