The Cricket Cranes will take part in the ICC Div 3 tournament in Muscat, Oman

Skipper Roger Mukasa believes the Cricket Cranes has what it takes to qualify for the ICC Division II tournament due in Namibia next year.

Before that though, the men’s national cricket team, which was flagged off on Friday, has the ‘small’ matter of ICC Division 3 Qualifiers to navigate.

The tourney in Muscat, Oman is scheduled to take place from November 7-21 and will also be used to determine the qualification for the 2023 Cricket World Cup.

While in Muscat, Uganda need to finish among the top two places.

The positioning then will decide its fate as either a First Class or One Day International (ODI) nation

“We shall take one game at a time. Obviously the tournament is going to be hard, but we have a good side that can deliver,” he said at the National Council of Sports in Kampala.

“We just have to listen to our coaches’ instructions and execute the set game plans. This tournament can be the turning point of our lives but we don’t want to play it with pressure.”

Kenyan Steve Tikolo will lead his charges.

Uganda, who got relegated in the last edition of the ICC Div III in Kampala, will play five matches in a round-robin format against the hosts, Kenya, Singapore, USA and Denmark.

The team, however, made amends after they won the ICC World Cricket League Div IV to win promotion back in Div III.

The Traveling Squad: Roger Mukasa – Captain (batsman), Arnold Otwani (Batsman, Wicket-keeper), Hamu Kayondo (Batsman), Ronak Patel (Batsman), Dinesh Nakrani (All-rounder), Riazat Ali Sha (All-rounder), Deus Muhumuza (All-rounder), Irfan Afridi (Bowler), Charles Waiswa (Bowler), Frank Nsubuga (Bowler), Bibal Hassun (Bowler), Henry Senyondo (Bowler), Brian Masaba- Vice Captain (All-rounder), Kenneth Waiswa (All-rounder)

Non-Traveling Reserves: Emmanuel Isaneez (Bowler), Fred Achelam (Batsman/Wicket-keeper)
