Communities in Agago district have accused Karimojong women of aiding their husbands to carry out cattle raids in the area.
The women in question stay in Agago and they provide labour force in gardens of the local people in exchange for money, and food items.
This was revealed by the Agago Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC) Cosmas James Okidi on Thursday.
“The locals communities suspect Karimojong women to be aiding cattle raids by collaborating with their husbands to launch attacks,” Mr Okidi noted during a talkshow on radio Wang OOH in Patongo Town Council where he was hosted to discuss on the recent resolutions of district security meeting.
The DRDC categorically informed the population that the Constitution of the country provides for Ugandans to settle or stay anywhere within the country, as long as their stay does not interfere with peace of the locals in that particular areas.
” In case you know any collaborators of cattle raids, please report him/her to my office for action”, said Mr Okidi.
He also hinted on the compensation of war debt claimants where he reminded the latter to check on their bank accounts whether it is active to avoid money bouncing back and also to use the money to acquire animals instead instead on useless expenditure like drinking etc.
Mr Okidi further encouraged farmers to make better use of rain for plantation as well as tipped them on embracing government programs such as Emyooga, PDM, OWC among others for social economic transformation.
