Insurance company to compensate Kiwatule accident victims

An insurance company has called upon all victims who were involved in the Kiwatule accident to get in touch with its Claims Officer.

“The truck that caused the accident along the Ntinda Kiwatule Road on the morning Thursday 7 November 2019 is insured by Excel Insurance Company Limited. If you or anyone you know has been involved in the unfortunate incident, please get in touch with the Claims Officer on 0706708995,” the company said in a statement on Thursday hours after the accident.

One person was confirmed dead after a truck filled with aggregate stones crashed through early morning traffic along Ntinda-Kiwatule Road.

The truck also damaged close to nine cars, two bodas and caused injuries to eight people who have since been admitted to several hospitals including Mulago Hospital.

The deceased was identified as Matovu William, 32, a rider, who succumbed to injuries he had sustained during the accident at Kampala Independent Hospital.

According to witnesses the a Sino truck registration number UAX 495M was sloping from Nalya to Kiwatule when it failed to brake, ploughing into the said cars at 8.20am.

The damaged cars are UBB 659N WISH, UAK 716R RAV4, UAX 469C HIACE, UAW 188E HIACE, UBA O88X PREMIO, UAV O12Y PLATZ, UAP 700X MERCEDES, UAZ 388J HIACE, UAZ 203C SUBARU while the registration numbers of the destroyed motocycles are UGC 198S and UEN 075F.
