Kamuli Grade 1 magistrate Esther Nalungi has today released on bail the Uganda Youth Democrats deputy chairman for the Eastern region Moses Bigirwa and his colleague Muwanguzi John who had spent almost a week on remand at kamuli prison after being charged with inciting violence.
Bigirwa and Muwanguzi were arrested on 11th July by police in kamuli town as they tried to demonstrate against the recently introduced mobile money and social media taxes which went into effect at beginning of this month of July.
They were arraigned before court on 13th July and charged with inciting violence where they were sent on remand until today 19th.
Bigirwa who appeared before the court today denied the charges leveled against him prompting the magistrate Nalungi to extend the case to 14th August after giving the duo bail.
Meanwhile speaking to the media shortly after the court, Bigirwa’s lawyers led by Gawaya Tegulle requested the magistrate to force police to avail them with the charge sheet to see the testimony and how they will move on with the case on 14th this month.
