President Yoweri Museveni has commended the Chairman Board of Trustees of Kampala International university (KIU) Hassan Basajabalaba for being a hardworking entrepreneur .
President was giving his speech at the university’s 18th graduation ceremony that took place on Saturday.
He said Uganda would be miles ahead if it had thousands of men like Basajabalaba.
The president also noted that after the few religion based universities that had been accredited by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), Basajabalaba was the first entrepreneur to seek permission to be allowed to start a private university,some thing he accepted.
“Basajabalaba started from hides and skins,then to hotels and now in education. He is a man who I think is a good example to all of you graduating,” Said Museveni.
The president went ahead to advise all graduands to be job creators and not seekers.
Museveni commended the university for maintaining quality control.
“Professor Sebuufu was my Lecturer in bio chemistry. All these are old men here but the heads are still working ”
The main campus in Kansanga managed to produce a total of 1015 graduands and from the western campus, 1395 students managed to graduate.
The non science programs took a bigger percentage of 63% as 37% were the science graduands.
