Dr Raymond Dusabe, the pioneer specialist who can help diagnose and treat women with cancerous reproductive organs in Rwanda was found on Monday murdered in a South Africa flat where he had gone on holiday.

This is the second high profile murder of a Rwandan in South Africa’s hotels, the former being of the former military intelligence chief Patrick Karegeya who was killed in 2014.

Hill Water

The death of Dusabe is resurrecting the debate on the murder of Karegeya and attempted assassination of former army chief Faustin Kayumba Nyamwasa.

It is however a farfetched conspiracy that the Kigali government had a hand in the killing. Dusabe was not known for political or military activitie but the desired skill the country needed badly.

Dusabe who was an employee of the King Faisal Hospital in Kigali at the time he met his death.

King Faisal Hospital said in a tweet; “King Faisal Hospital is saddened to announce the death of Dr. Raymond Dusabe. The administration wishes to express its most sincere sympathies to his family during this difficult time. His work here will not soon be forgotten. He will be greatly missed. May He Rest In Peace.”

Dusabe, 40, was raised in Burundi, which is today is at bad terms with the Rwandan government. He returned to Rwanda in 1998.

He studied medicine at the National University of Rwanda and became a gynaecologist . In 2010 he did his post graduate course at Stellenbosch University.

After completing his Master of Medicine Degree (MMed) at Stellenbosch University of South Africa in 2014, Tygerberg’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology selected and financed him to sub-specialise in gynecologic oncology.
