Premier Rugunda tells Ugandans to abide by UCC Simcard registration deadline

Uganda premier Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda has called upon Ugandans to register their sim card within the provided for window. The Prime Minister added however that the government has taken into consideration the concerns raised by public sections and NGO’s regarding the SIM card registration.

Rugunda said during a meeting he chaired with different government agencies to harmonise progress on the SIM card verification exercise that “Government is so far happy with the progress being made with the SIM card verification exercise.” He called on all to embrace it.

He further added that by the close of the deadline in two days time, they shall assess progress but advised everyone to make effort to meet and beat the deadline for the SIM card verification exercise.

Non government organizations have threatened to sue Uganda Communications Commission for giving a short time ultimatum for the verification of SIM cards.

UCC gave an ultimatum of one week for Ugandans to re register their lines before the disconnection.
