Operation wealth Creation which has been giving out seeds to the people in a campaign of eradicating poverty has given out More than 36,000 kilograms of maize seeds to farmers in kakumiro district.
Steven Sselumaga, the Chairman of Agriculture and Trade in Kakumiro thanked the government for reaching out to farmers in rural areas who take long to get treated seeds and pesticides.
“We are privileged to get these seeds which are drought and pests resistant, they will help us to improve our income if we plant them during this rainy season.” Sselumaga said.
He added that all farmers are going to be given these seeds to grow and improve on food production in their district thus increase their income.
“We are going to give out coffee seedlings and cocoa soon to the farmers after educating them about coffee and cocoa growing so that Uganda can increase on the coffee and cocoa production.” Sselumaga added.
