KAMPALA, UGANDA – On Monday, Sudhir Ruparelia, Honorary Consul of Nepal in Uganda, marked Nepal’s Constitution Day with a cake-cutting ceremony at Crane Chambers in Kampala. The event, held three days after the official September 19 commemoration, brought together Ruparelia’s staff to honor the 10th anniversary of Nepal’s 2015 Constitution, which established a federal democratic republic.

In the photo, Dr Ruparelia, dressed in a white outfit, is seen slicing a cake adorned with Nepal’s tricolor and chocolate drizzles, surrounded by smiling staff. The wooden conference table held plates of cake and napkins, reflecting a festive mood. The Constitution, enacted amid post-earthquake recovery, symbolizes Nepal’s commitment to inclusivity for groups like Dalits and Janajatis, mirroring Uganda’s own post-conflict unity under its 1995 Constitution.

Mr Ruparelia, whose Ruparelia Group drives Uganda’s economic landscape, emphasized the day’s significance, noting, “It’s a celebration of resilience and shared values.” The event followed a scholarship announcement with Nepal’s embassy, linking Ugandan and Nepali youth. The gathering blended cultures with sel roti and mandazi, reinforcing community ties.
