On Wednesday, Equatorial Guinea president Obiang Nguema had bilateral talks with President Yoweri Museveni at State House Entebbe.
Among the thing the two presidents discussed included cooperation in the fields of trade, culture, oil and gas and also form a permanent joint commission for cooperation of the two countries.
The duo also went ahead to sign four memoranda of understanding.
President Obiang also offered to market Uganda as a tourism destination.
President Museveni wrote on his official Facebook wall;
I thank His Excellency Teodore Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea for honouring my invitation for a two-day state visit to Uganda.
We led our delegations in bilateral discussions that resulted into our countries signing four memoranda of understanding at State House, Entebbe.
Uganda and Equatorial Guinea will cooperate in the fields of trade, culture, oil and gas and also form a permanent joint commission for cooperation of the two countries.
Our cooperation is also informed by our principle of Pan-Africanism. And it’s not just sentimental. Pan-Africanism is for our security, prosperity and for historical & cultural reasons.
Strengthening our relationship with Equatorial Guinea is also important because it offers us a gateway into not just West but also Central Africa.
When we start our airline, it will be easy to solidify this relationship and exploit the opportunities in trade and tourism.
I am glad that His Excellency Obiang has offered to market Uganda as a tourism destination. I will also honour his request that I visit Malabo in the near future
