The State Minister of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities has cleared the air on the eligibility of Zari ‘Boss Lady’ Hassan as Tourism Uganda’s ambassador.
According to Godfrey Kiwanda as a ministry, they could not choose a better person than Zari.
“With over 4.5million followers on Instagram, we hope that we can use her following to promote tourism, and we are very happy that when we approached her about the matter, she accepted,” said Kiwanda this week during a press briefing to unveil the South African- based socialite.
The Ministry launched a new campaign titled ‘Tourism and Digital Transformation’ to promote Uganda’s tourism sites and create awareness of those tourism sites that people don’t know about. This is all done to enable the ministry reach its set target of four million visitors by 2020
“The world is going digital; we want to digitalise tourism too. We want the all world to know about Uganda’s tourism site and this makes Zari the perfect candidate for this role because she has travelled the world and has a big following,” said Kiwanda.
Through the Tourism Digital transformation campaign, they launched projects like ‘Tulambule Pearl of Africa’, targeting Ugandans, ‘Twende Uganda’, which is targeting East Africa and ‘Visit Uganda’ that’s targeting the whole world.
All this, according to Kiwanda, require digital marketing.
Zari on her part said she deserves everything that is happening to her.
“I worked for everything that’s coming my way, and am so blessed that I was selected as the perfect candidate for this responsibility,” the mother of four said.
Zari’s affirmed that she is not planning to use her role as tourism ambassador to promote her social life, but rather she is doing it for Uganda and for free.
On the same day, the minister unveiled a project titled ‘Tulambule ne Zari’ that commences on Tuesday next week. The first place to be toured will be the Independence monument. Tourists will then continue to other sites such as the equator, Kazinga Channel, Mbarara Igongo Cultural Site among others.
Zari will officially be appointed as the Tourism ambassador on November 7 at Queen Elizabeth National Park.
