When it comes to excellent accommodation, Uganda has a variety of options ranging from apartments, guest houses, hotels, motels and lodges.

Today we categorically take you through the finest hotels and lodges in the country and with them you don’t have to run out of options.

Common Wealth Resort Munyonyo

Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort is a luxurious Five star hotel-resort located in the neighborhood of Munyonyo, in Makindye Division, in the southeastern part of Kampala, along the northern shores of Lake Victoria, the second-largest freshwater lake in the world. It is located adjacent to Speke Resort and Conference Center.

Kampala Serena Hotel

The five star hotel is located in the city centre and it has its own helipad for easy transport between the hotel and Entebbe International Airport. Adjacent to the hotel is the Kampala Serena International Conference Center with a seating capacity of 1,500 and multilingual translation facilities of up to nine languages simultaneously.

Serena Hotel has 152 rooms, including thirteen suites, one of which is a presidential suite During the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting 2007 in Kampala, the hotel hosted Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom for four nights.

Protea Hotel Kampala

This four star upscale hotel is 2 km from cultural and natural history exhibits at the Uganda Museum and it’s a 6 minute walk from Uganda Golf Course.

Featuring warm, contemporary decor, the bright rooms come with free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs, plus safes and sitting areas, while suites add separate dining rooms.

The property offers free buffet breakfast and parking. Other amenities include an international restaurant/bar with a terrace, plus a business centre and a gym with regularly scheduled classes.

Skyz Hotel

Skyz Hotel is a gem perched on one of Kampala’s seven hills offering the best in business travel and leisure.

Located in Naguru, Skyz Hotel has 14 boardrooms and 2 conference venues seating between 8 and 150 delegates.

It also boasts unique club floors, including Accommodations, board rooms and dining, designed to serve private business groups such as company retreats.

Kampala Sheraton

This upscale hotel in central Kampala is a 15-minute walk from the Nakasero Market, 3 km from the Uganda National Museum and 6.5 km from the Baha’i House of Worship.

Stylish rooms with balconies have free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, and tea and coffeemaking facilities. Suites add separate living areas, while club rooms and suites offer private-lounge access, breakfast and snacks. Room service is available 24/7.

Multiple dining options include a Tandoori grill, a hip seafood/steak restaurant, an English-style pub and a poolside bar. There’s also gym, an outdoor pool and a tennis court. A 24-hour airport shuttle is provided for a fee.

Lake Victoria Serena Kigo

On the shores of Lake Victoria, this upscale, Italian-inspired golf and spa resort is 6 km from the Lutembe wetlands and beach and 20 km from Kampala city centre.

The refined rooms housed in Tuscan-style villas offer free Wi-Fi, flat-screens and minibars, as well as safes and tea and coffeemakers. Suites add sitting rooms; some offer dining rooms, kitchens and staff quarters. Room service is available 24/7.

There’s free breakfast and parking. Amenities include a private marina, a championship golf course and a helipad. Dining includes Asian cuisine and an Italian brasserie. There’s also a piano bar, a spa, an indoor pool and a gym.

Pearl of Africa Hotel

The hotel is located in Central Kampala on Nakasero Hill. The building stands on a 14 acres (5.7 ha) site that was previously occupied by the state’s television stations. The elevation of the site is approximately 1,240 metres (4,070 ft) above sea level, making it one of the highest points in the city.

The hotel is the tallest completed building in the city, at 23 storeys and about 90 metres (300 ft) in height.

Protea Hotel Entebbe

Overlooking Lake Victoria, this straightforward hotel is a 5-minute walk from Entebbe Golf Club, 2 km from the Entebbe Botanic Gardens and 6 km from Entebbe International Airport.

Streamlined rooms come with free Wi-Fi, satellite TV, safes and tea and coffeemaking facilities. Suites add living areas. Upgraded quarters offer balconies and lake views.

Parking is complimentary. A modest restaurant features a lake-view terrace. Other amenities include a bar, an outdoor pool and a fitness centre.

Chobe Safari Lodge

Located in the Murchison Falls National Park, this Five Star lodge is undoubtedly the gem in Uganda’s crown of tourism destinations. The breathtaking panoramic views, coupled with the sounds of the River Nile’s magnificent rapids, sets the scene for an adventure that will impress even the most discerning of visitors.

Chobe Safari Lodge offers a unique opportunity to sample the wildlife, birds, flora and fauna; all in an area of the park that has yet to be discovered. This area of Murchison Falls National Park is ideal for fishing, and will revive this newly refurbished lodge to become one of the best fishing destinations in Africa.

Paraa Safari Lodge

Established in 1954, Paraa Safari Lodge is in Murchison Falls National Park. The lodge is located in the north west of Uganda over looking one of nature’s best kept secrets, the River Nile, on its journey from its source at Lake Victoria to join Lake Albert – here it is suddenly channeled into a gorge only six meters wide, and cascades 43 meters below.

The earth literally trembles at Murchison Falls – one of the world’s most powerful flows of natural water.

Mweya Safari Lodge
