Kira Municipality legislator, Hon. Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, has urged all Ugandans to rise up and demand their rights and a change in leadership. He expressed concerns that the country is currently ruled by one family, with President Museveni at the helm, his son as the Chief of Defence Forces, and his wife overseeing the Ministry of Education.
Ssemujju emphasized that true change will not come through democratic means alone. He pointed to recent events in countries like Sudan and Egypt, stating, “Until we as a country rise to the occasion and do what these countries have done, we will continue to face the same type of elections.”
The MP criticized the electoral process in Uganda, claiming there have never been fair and transparent elections. He highlighted that even the last elections were heavily influenced by the military, making it difficult for citizens to trust the outcomes.
Looking ahead to the next elections, Ssemujju warned Ugandans to prepare for a struggle. “If anyone thought we are going into a free and fair election, they should know that they are going into a fight,” he said, urging citizens to be ready for the challenges that lie ahead.
