Angry Ugandans on social media have expressed concern over President Yoweri Museveni’s usual unsatisfactory response towards high-profile murders in the country.

On Tuesday morning, unknown assailants riding on two motorcycles sprayed bullets to the car of the outgoing minister of Works and Transport Gen Edward Katumba Wamala that left him severely injured.

The bullet shots also killed Gen Katumba’s daughter Brenda Nantongo and his driver Haruna Kayondo.

The incident took place along Kisota road in Kisaasi, a city suburb.

The former Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) was evacuated to Malcolm Clinic in Kisaasi using a bodaboda before being transferred to MediPal international Hospital in Kololo where he is currently receiving treatment.

Reacting to the assassination attempt, Gen Museveni promised to deal with the assailants who don’t value life.

“The pigs who do not value life shot at Gen. Katumba killed his daughter and driver and injured him. Condolences on the loss of the two Ugandans. I talked to Gen. Katumba twice on the phone. He is being well-managed. We shall defeat the criminals as we did in the past. We already have clues to those killers,” Museveni tweeted on Tuesday.

“Besides, the new system of digital beacons on all vehicles and Boda Bodas will eliminate the misuse of vehicles and Boda Bodas to commit crimes. I wish Gen. Katumba a quick recovery. The bodyguard should not have shot in the air.He should have shot to kill. We could be having a dead terrorist instead of scaring away the terrorists. His shooting saved Gen. Katumba by scaring the criminals away. However, killing one or more of the terrorists would have done the same and more.”

However, according to frustrated Ugandans, they are tired of empty promises by the President given the fact they are over 17 murder cases of high profile people whose reports have not been disclosed to the nation.

King David Masiko asked, “SOS all previous murders have never been resolved. When will those pigs be eaten?”

Herbert Kalungi said, “We shall defeat the criminals as we did in the past, really? Kaweesa, Kirumira, Abiriga etc all got justice and their assassins were arrested too, right? What a joke of the day.”

“As we pursue justice for Gen Katumba Wamala let’s also not forget the plight of these innocent Ugandans who were killed in the Run-up to January Elections,” said Hezbon Mureithi.

Abandoned Muzukulu said, “But these are the very same words you have always said but not reports.”

Jodan Posts added, “Thank you H.E for always caring about the patriots of our peaceful country. May God heal Gen Katumba then am too optimistic that foes of steady progress will be hurt and heavily punished.”

Abraham Jessy noted, “ Our cameras I hope are fake, insecurity in Uganda is too high my advice to you give Bobi Wine back his armed car. If a general can be tried what about a mere civilian who owns no gun?”

“We thank the good Samaritan who rushed the general to the hospital. Ugandans are still kind,” said Kemigisha Zoey.

Tarshan on the threads also asserted, “Those pigs are within you, you feed them, eat on the same table, share ideas and opinions so they aren’t far from your Execellence.”

“Mr. President with due respect, how can the government which failed to get killers of Kigundu, Kawesi, Abiriga, Kirumira and the Muslim clarics . How can the same government tell Ugandans that they will arrest these ones?,” Daddy Ronnie also commented.
