Bank of Uganda Governor Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile’s family is divided sharply with two junior brothers intimidating each other over a parliamentary seat none of them has hands on. Mutebile’s two junior brothers are aspiring for the Kabale Municipality seat.

The two are Major General Timothy Sabiti Mutebile who retired recently to join politics and his young brother Joseph Mutebile a banker.

General Sabiti recently retired from the army and announced that he will be contesting for Kabale municipality seat however his Joseph who has contested twice and lost (2006 and 2011) to the current MP Andrew Baryayanga says his supporters still want him to return.

However, Gen Sabiti believes Joseph just wants spoil the race. Sabiiti who poured cold water on Joseph’s chances, says, his brother scored less than 1% in the last elections but still wants to stand, a move which would paint a bad picture for a family if it has two candidates in the race.

This, Gen Mutebile says, is an attempt to blackmail and intimidate him.

Joseph Mutebile however did not take the jap, he shot back, “He thinks I have scored less than one percent but let him step in the race and ‘test the water’ he will tell us its temperatures.”
