The Woman Member of Parliament Amuria district Susan Amero has denounced her appointment by People Power, saying she is still a National Resistance Movement (NRM) cadre.
She follows Bildad Moses Adome, the Jie County Member of Parliament who had been appointed as the main coordinator in charge of Karamoja region.
On Wednesday this week, the leadership of People Power unveiled a team which will coordinate the movement’s activities ahead of the 2021 General elections.
Over 121 people were unveiled as coordinators in all regions in Uganda. Also named were representatives from the informal sector, youth wing, institutions, Women wing, Arts and Entertainment, PWDs and Diaspora.
Among the 121people was Amaro who was appointed as leader of the Teso team region coordinator.
Like Adome, Amero told journalists at Parliament that the People Power leader, Kyadondo East lawmaker Robert Kyagulanyi never contacted her to find out whether she is interested in being part of his team.
“I’m still a member of National Resistance Movement even though at times I disagree with some of their decisions,” she said.
Amero added that she cannot be a coordinator of the pressure group whose agenda she doesn’t know and she was not educated about the real objectives of People Power.
“I was away and I also got to learn about my appointment on social media, first of all. I have not consulted my people if one is becoming a coordinator is supposed to move as a team. Secondly, I have not consulted my people whether I leave NRM or not, because I’m the flag bearer of NRM in Amuria and I can’t just decide like that without listening to the views of my people,” she said.
Amero added that her disagreements with NRM party raise when they bring issues which don’t benefit her people.
“I strongly denounce this appointment since I’m still a cadre for NRM,” she confirmed.
