Kabale District chairperson Patrick Besigye Keihwa has urged headteachers and stakeholders in the education sector to avail correct information to the to the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) to ease service delivery.

Keihwa made the remarks during a meeting in the Rukiiko hall at the district headquarters, where officials from UBOS were meeting selected head teachers and education stakeholders from Kabale.

“I urge you to give correct information UBOS when they find you in your schools. The information that you will provide will cause the necessary and wanting development in Kabale and Uganda at large”Keihwa said.

Ubos, in conjunction with the ministry of education and sports and the department for international development (DFID) earlier this year started an initiative of developing a master list of education institutions in Uganda (MEIU) and the project in particular will conclude at the end of April this year in Kabale district.

Mrs. Catherine Bekunda, the senior information officer in Ubos said once the data is collected from schools, it would assist policy makers in the country who have most times demanded for the reliable, valid, relevant and meaningful data to guide them in responding to the emerging policy challenges.

“Ubos is collecting data on enrollment  in schools, status of classrooms, number of non teaching staff, number of teachers, boys to girls ratio USE status and other issues” Bekunda aid.
