Former Buyende District DPC Muhammad Kirumira has on Saturday night been shot dead by unknown assailants.
The Kirumira who were driving in the family car was shot with a yet to be identified woman near his home in Bulenga, Wakiso District by assailants riding on a boda boda.
He was coming from a friend’s party in Seguku.
Kirumira’s shooting makes the second this year of a public figure after Ibrahim Abiriga. In terms of high Profile Police personnel, he is the second in two years after Andrew Felix Kaweesi.
Afande Kirumira had resigned from the Uganda police force in January this year after he was accused of indiscipline.
He was a tough critic of Kale Kayihura, the former police boss.
He had said he was living in fear because of the death threats he had received.
Pictures of the crime scene flooded social media along with tributes to the deceased Afande Kirumira.
