Police has commenced anti crime awareness activities among the school going children in Kampala schools.

The campaign aimed at sensitising the youth on kidnap and murders, comes at a time when crime rates continue to increase in the country.

The Kawempe DPC. ASP Ronald Wotwali advised pupils to desist from tendencies of leaving school without official permission from their administrators.

He also asked the teachers to always coordinate with parents in evening hours when pupils are leaving school to ensure that they are picked up by the right handlers.

He was advising pupils of Aunt Milly primary school in Kazo, Kawempe on lone movements telling them about the benefits of moving in groups.

The Kawempe police team also took the pupils through self defence classes to help them when caught in desperate occasions.

He advised parents to ensure security of their children saying kidnaps of children are sometimes due to negligence citing the cases where children’s security is left in the hands of bodaboda riders who drop them and pick from school.

ASP Wotwali stressed that community policing and security sensitisation in schools has been key in reducing crime in the society.
