Two people have today morning died on spot and several others seriously injured after a vehicle registration number UBB 883V Toyota Hiace lost control and swerved off the road at Kakatunda along Kabale Mbarara highway in Rukiga district.
The deceased have been identified as Charles Manikuze 38 years and Lawrence Bagaruye 60 years old.
According to police, the deceased are all residents of Maya cell Rubimbiri parish Kasambya Sub County Mubende district, who allegdly were heading to Kisoro district for burial.
The Kigezi region police spokesperson Elly Maate says that preliminary investigations show that the likely cause of the accident is poor visionary of the road because of mist or fog. Maate added that more likely the accident could have been caused by fatigue because of Trans night driving.
Maate revealed that the bodies were taken to Kabale referral hospital mortuary for postmortem and injured also receive treatment in the same health facility.
The case has been registered at Rukiga police station file reference number TAR 17/2018.
