Immediately after being released by ISO on Monday, New Vision journalist Charles Etukuri revealed that the security operatives who had detained him for closely to week, believed that je had closely worked with the killers of a Finnish national who was found dead in Pearl of Africa Hotel in Kampala.

Etukuri while at Vision Group Headquarters in Industrial Area said while being interrogated at one of the safe houses in Kyengera, he was tasked to reveal how he got to know first that a Finnish national is in the hotel dead.

“My captors believed I had closely worked with the killers of the Finnish national found dead in a Kampala Hotel and they wanted me to reveal how I got to know the information,” said Etukuri.

He says even though he wasn’t physically beaten, he was mentally tortured because he was refused to talk to anyone including his family members.

Etukuri was kidnapped outside Vision Group premises last Tuesday afternoon by men dressed in military fatigue. They were reportedly driving a double cabin vehicle Reg No. UAH 038A.

New Vision management alleged that Etukuri’s kidnap was likely connected to the stories he covered last Saturday and Sunday about the alleged murders.

The murders were linked to officials in ISO and Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI).
