As Uganda continues to register more complex crimes such as cyber-criminality, organised crime among others, there’s a pressing need to protect vulnerable people through developing the expertise of Uganda Police Officers.
And to meet these challenges and to face future threats, there is need to equip officers with the right skills,capabilities and to ensure even more innovativeness in the recruitment system.
While addressing the graduands at Senior Staff College Bwebajja this Friday, Inspector General of Police Gen. Kale Kayihura revealed plans to hire ex servicemen from FBI , Scotland Yard to train over 4000 Uganda Police Criminal Investigation and Crime Intelligence officers.
The completed course that covered educational fields of Intermediate Command and staff course, Advanced Certificate in Peace building, Human Security and Conflict Transformation and Certificate in Investigation of Sexual Gender based violence in Conflict ran for four months consisting of 58 participants who included officers from Uganda Prisons Service .
Kayihura explained that Human resource development is a critical capability that the police management has embarked on among the 13 strategic tasks to be achieved.
