High Court has thrown out a case by six suspended MPs against the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga.
In her ruling read by the Deputy Registrar Joy Kabagye, judge Margret Oumo said she lacked jurisdiction to hear the case since it’s a constitutional matter.
She instead referred the case to the Constitutional Court for interpretation.
Six MPs including Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, Allan Ssewanyana, Gerald Karuhanga, Jonathan Odur, Anthony Akol and Mubarak Manyangwa were suspended from the August house for allegedly masterminding chaos and missed out the debate as parliament finally passed the age limit bill.
The Speaker was on Wednesday expected to appear in court after the MPs in question successfully managed to get summons against her to personally appear for cross examination from the legislators’ lawyers led by Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago.
The six MPs claim that they were illegally suspended because the speaker had earlier adjourned the House before she took her decision.
