Ex-Fufa President Lawrence Mulindwa to receive Honorary doctorate from Commonwealth University London

The St Mary’s Kitende proprietor Lawrence Mulindwa will next week (December 12-14) receive an Honorary Doctorate degree from the Commonwealth University in London.

The honour is in acknowledgement of Mulindwa’s dedicated service to education and sports.

“I am humbled,” Mulindwa said Mulindwa. “I feel great that internationally people are appreciating the work I am doing to touch people’s lives. The award is not given to everyone; it is given to few personalities.”

St Mary’s Kitende is unanimously acclaimed as an academic giant with its students regularly shining at UCE and UACE level.
It is, however, sport that has catapulted Mulindwa’s legacy.
He served as Fufa president for eight years, restored pride and turned the Cranes into a big brand.

Mulindwa also nurtured reigning Fufa president Moses Magogo. For Vipers, he has played a leading role in transforming the team – formerly known as Bunnamwaya – into one of the strongest and most popular teams in the country.

Today, Vipers are on a similar pedestal with traditional giants SC Villa and KCCA, in terms of resources.

And this year Mulindwa made history by building arguably the best privately-owned football Stadium in the country.

The all-seater St Mary’s Stadium is a modern facility with a state-of-the-art dressing room, a uniquely designed pavilion and several other amenities. The stadium has already hosted continental matches for club and country.

During the 54th Independence Day celebrations held at Luuka District headquarters last year, President Yoweri Museveni decorated Mulindwa with a Golden Jubilee medal in appreciation of his outstanding contribution to sports.
Mulindwa is known to be offering hundreds of bursaries to needy students through the Mulindwa Foundation.

At Kitende and Vipers, he employs hundreds of staff and is renowned for pursuing and demanding excellence from people working under him.
