Woman arrested after kidnapping new born baby

Kampala- The Police in Kawempe has arrested a one Nankya Haula who kidnapped a new born baby from its mother at the Kampala City Council (KCCA) Authority Hospital located in Kawempe division.

Deputy Kampala metropolitan police spokesman Luke Oweyesigyire has confirmed the arrest of Nankya.

“The arrest was done by police with the help of the look out team that we have inside the hospital stationed there specifically for such acts of kidnap especially from mothers who have just given birth” Oweyesigyire noted

The deputy KMP police spokesperson adds that the lady was first seen holding a fake baby (doll) and tried to be friend the mother of the baby identified as Amina Nakyanzi who after a while noticed she had a doll and her baby was missing.
According to Oweyesigyire, Nakyanzi made an alarm and the woman was arrested.
The suspect is currently being held at Kawempe police station as investigations continue.
