The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Gen. Kale Kayihura has rubbished rumours that his home was recently cordoned by army officers and that his security has been beefed up.
In his statement, Gen Kayihura said he had restrained himself from responding to the trending claim on social media relating to him and the Uganda police.
However, he says he is compelled to respond to the story full of falsehoods that appeared as a headline story in Saturday Vision of 28th October, 2017 entitled ‘KAYIHURA SECURITY BEEFED UP’.
He says the information is false. He has not changed his security detail as reported and his home is as free as it has always been.
“I have not changed my security detail as reported. Am guarded by police guards and not the army. My home is as free as it has always been,” he noted.
Kayihura says whoever is behind the stories is motivated by malice with sinister motives.
“Recall that a few months back, social and main media were awash with fabricated stories that I had been ‘mysteriously taken ill’, with some saying I was in fact dead. There’s no doubt that the same evil elements are at it again,” states police boss adding that, “ Let me assure members of the general public that I am safe and well, going about my duties ,normally,”
Meanwhile, Gen Kayihura has not uttered any word regarding the arrest of his blue-eyed top police officers who were on Friday arraigned before Military court and charged with espionage.
