The Member of Parliament for Masaka Municipality Hon. Mathias Mpuuga has attacked government for not being able to avail free sanitary pads to the young girls in schools.

Speaking this, Mpuuga was on the launch of the baseline citizen’s assessment of the National Resistance Movement [NRM] at Golf course hotel Kampala.

Mpuuga said that the money that the government collects from its citizens is just enough to help it fulfill its obligations.

“If you have money to throw on streets and tomorrow you come out to tell us that there is no money for a small issue like pads, then I don’t understand you” said Mpuga .

On the same event, Captain Mike Mukula said that he is happy with the journey that the NRM government has moved.

“Many can criticize UPE, but I believe that as many tend to drop out, the numbers of those who can read and write has increased” Mukula lamented.

He went ahead to elucidate that the NRM government has invested heavily in education and infrastructure among others.

Ofwono Opondo the spokesperson for the National resistance Movement also confirmed that the number of those who have gained from the Universal Primary Education has increased.

“ NRM has allocated over UGX3.4 trillion for road construction,50% on education summing to about UGX20m hence half of Uganda’s population is getting free education [UPE/USE]” Said Opondo.

The baseline process will focus on a selected set of sectors, where citizens can give feedback to their leaders.
