Newly elected Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu popularly known as Bobi Wine has vowed to defend the constitution of Uganda despite joining the legislative assembly in a sensitive time.

Bobi Wine who took an oath on Tuesday at the floor of parliament revealed that he will fight any attempts to change the constitution.

“I have come to parliament at a very senstive time, a time where there is an impeding bill to lift the age limit for the presidency. I have just taken an oath to defend, preserve the constitution of Uganda and that will be my main goal right now,” he said soon after being sworn into the 10th Parliament.

The singer’s comment comes at a time when there’s a very big question regarding the amendment of Article 102(b) which could lead to the lifting of the presidential age limit.

Meanwhile, Bobi Wine was also yesterday appointed on the Presidential Affairs Committee whose main mandate is to oversee the activities and programmes of the following government departments and institutions: –

(i) Office of the President

(ii) State House

(iii) Office of the Vice President

(iv) Office of the Prime Minister

(v) Internal Security Organization and

(vi) External Security Organization
