President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni yesterday handed over eight modern agriculture tractors to three constituents, two kingdoms, two farmers and a peace initiative group in fulfillment of pledges he made two years ago during the Operation wealth creation campaign. The President also donated four vehicles to three individuals and a women’s SACCO.

“I hope you will use the tractors to promote modern agro production. Sensitize our people against fragmenting their land and in this way, they will ensure more production and better incomes,” he said.

According to the State House Comptroller Ms. Lucy Nakyobe Mbonye, the some of the tractors were procured last year but could not be given away because it was election year.

The beneficiaries included the Kyabazinga of Busoga, Isingiro County South Constituency represented by Hon. Alex Byarugaba Bakunda, Usuk County, Katakwi represented by Hon. Peter Ogwang, Bukedea District represented by Woman MP Anita Among of FDC, a prominent farmer in Kasese, Kasenda, Abdul Mangati, the Royal Kingdom of Alur, the Family of the late Oboth-Ofumbi in Tororo and the Alinga Obongi Peace Initiative.

The vehicles were donated to the Bishop of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Busoga (Virgo Pick Up Hilux UBA 773M), The widow of the late Prince Ssimbwa, Mary Ssimbwa (Prado TX UBA419P), The widow of the late Kibazo ((Prado TX UBA 513O), and the Busoga Women Adventist Church SACCO (Mini Bus (Hiace Taxi UBA 960M).
The ceremony took place at State House, Entebbe.
