Mixed reactions as musicians take sides in ‘Chameleone-Kenzo’ battle over Harmonize song

After parting ways with Wasafi management (WCB), a Tanzanian based music label, now singer Rajab Abdul Kahali aka Harmonize has resorted to creating a rift between Ugandan singers Eddy Kenzo and Jose Chameleone.

It all started when Harmonize recorded a song with Chameleone dubbed ‘Inabana’, but to everyone’s surprise, in just days after the audio was released, Harmonize hit the studio and recorded the same song again with Kenzo.

His motive is still unknown but according to Chameleone during an interview with nbs TV, he has no problem with Kenzo because the song belongs to Harmonize, and he has the authority to do whatever he wants with his project.

“I met with Harmonize some time back at Jomo Kenyatta Airport and he suggested that we record a song, I agreed because I love Harmonize as a person. And after a week, he sent me the instrumentals, I recorded my lines, and sent the song back to him,” he said.

Chameleone also noted that issues around that song started when Harmonize fronted his management, in a deal that was initially between musicians, and that’s when he failed to reach an agreement with his management, thus stepping back on the project.

Kenzo through his social media also stated recently that he doesn’t know how everything happened, but he is also as confused as the rest.

“I know many people are confused about this song but an also like you, I don’t know what happened but I also don’t know what to do now, it’s now like that,” he posted.

But despite Chameleone and Kenzo statements, several artistes have also shared views about the matter on social media, some think that Harmonize is trying to mess Uganda’s music industry, well as others think he was right to do what he did.

‘I think Harmonize made a wise move to work with Kenzo because they are both young and fresh and understand each other,’ Young Mulo.

‘I wonder how our very own artistes are being used to fight our very own artistes/legends’ Weasel Manizo.

However Chameleone still believes that Ugandan artistes are bigger than those from Tanzania, and possibly that’s why Harmonize is trying to create a rift them.

“It is not easy to be like us, fakers, just days and the clock doesn’t stop UG UG UG,” he posted on instagram.
