Augustine Yiga does not represent other pastors – Kabuleta

Joseph Kabuleta has attacked New Vision publications over their recent story about ‘Men of God’.

On Tuesday , New Vision published an article titled ‘20 top pastors probed over rape, murder’ and this did not go well with Kabuleta, a former sports journalists at the same media house.

In his Facebook rant, the founder of The Watchman Ministries said the published piece was the true definition of worst sensational journalism.

Kabuleta said the whole article was rotating around Pastor Augustine Yiga but in the headline, they made it look that they were having details for other 19 pastors.

Over the past days, Yiga, the lead pastor of Revival Christian Church Kawaala has been on spot over alleged rape and child neglect. He was arrested last week only to be released on police bond on Monday Evening.

Pastor Augustine Yiga

Kabuleta stated that New Vision personnel have clearly prostituted themselves to become a mouthpiece of a certain agenda.

“That could never happen under the leadership of William Pike. But I suppose nothing is off limits when NRM cadres take charge.”

MEDIA PROSTITUTES

TEACHER: Mention five things made of steel
STUDENT: A spoon, a fork (thinks, thinks) and three nails

The New Vision headline on Tuesday, Feb 11th reminded me of that Primary School joke.
“20 TOP PASTORS PROBED OVER RAPE, MURDER”
That’s catchy alright. Until you delve into the pages and your eyes are accosted with the worst piece of sensational journalism this side of sanity. If you didn’t read the story, I will relay it to you in a simple question and answer format.

SO WHO ARE THE 20 PASTORS BEING PROBED?
Well, Augustine Yiga and (thinks…thinks) 19 other Augustine Yigas.

WHO DID HE MURDER?
Nobody that we know, but he fathered children from several women and refused to take care of them.

THAT’S NOT GOOD. BUT WAS ANYONE MURDERED?
All we know is that Pastors are serial rapists and murderers. The whole damn lot of them.

WE READ THAT POLICE DISCOVERED MASS GRAVES?
Yes, under some of their pulpits.

DID THEY DIG UP THE GRAVES?
We got a tip from a whistleblower in November. We are still probing, probing.

DO WE HAVE ANY MISSING PEOPLE REPORTED?
Ah, not that we know of.

WHAT’S THE CID CASE FILE NUMBER?
Why do you ask such details?

I THOUGHT THAT’S PUBLIC INFORMATION THAT CAN BE PICKED OFF THE COUNTER
We didn’t bother to go that far. But Pastors are murderers. Everyone knows it.

SO WE MIGHT HAVE CRACKED THE PUZZLE OF WHO KILLED CERINA NEBANDA, FELIX KAWEESI, IBRAHIM ABIRIGA, MOHAMMED KIRUMIRA AND ALL THE SHIEKS WHO WERE MURDERED?
Now you are beginning to understand me. It was Pastors. I can’t believe we missed it all along. Pastors!!!

WILL THIS ‘PROBE’ EVER GET OFF NEW VISION PAGES AND BECOME AN ACTUAL POLICE PROBE?
You are missing the point. It doesn’t have to. As long as the public knows that Pastors are murderers and rapists and child molesters, our client will be happy.

WHO IS YOUR CLIENT?
I cannot say.

COULD IT BE THAT WOMAN WHOM JOSEPH KABULETA CALLS JEZEBEL?
Which one?

THE ONE WHO PRETENDS TO BE BORN AGAIN BUT WHOSE RUTHLESSNESS WHEN DEALING WITH HER ENEMIES WOULD MAKE SATAN CRINGE
(Pause) Why are you asking too many questions, you must be a Pastor?

NEW VISION REPORTER HUNGS UP

How can a newspaper that was once a paragon of accountable and ethical journalism descend into such sleaze and sensationalism?
How is that any different from Kamunye? At least Kamunye provides some erotic value.
Clearly they have prostituted themselves to become a mouthpiece of a certain agenda. That could never happen under the leadership of William Pike. But I suppose nothing is off limits when NRM cadres take charge.
When a publication that once prided itself in being ‘a paper of record’ starts spewing such speculative dross, then you realize that the predicted fall of print media is coming sooner than we thought. The picture below shows a motorcyclist taking newspaper returns back where they belong. With such headlines, the pile can only grow bigger.
I do understand that so many people hate pastors, for diverse reasons. And that’s absolutely fine by us. We are all entitled to our emotions. But when that hatred clouds basic judgement and makes otherwise intelligent people suspend their brains then you know they were never intelligent in the first place.
This is not even my weekly rant.
That will come on Monday.
