Stability is at the centre of every organisation especially when it is as large as MTN Uganda, the biggest telecom in the country.
However, the ongoing MTN deportations scandal is running out of control, as four top bosses, including the chief executive officer have been thrown out.
On Friday afternoon, MTN Uganda staff are however holding their Sacco Annual General Assembly amidst this uncertainty in the country. Some of the senior members of the AGM will visibly be missing. MTN CEO Wim Vanhelleputte was deported to Belgium on Thursday night. His deportation follows that of French Cameroonian Olivier Prentout, Rwandan Annie Bilenge Tabura, and Italian Elza Muzzolini, over national security concerns.
The AGM meeting takes place at Nyonyi Gardens offices in Kololo.
All is not well at MTN Uganda among staff, since security organs are still pursuing their investigations to their conclusion. This has caused unease and they’ve been a fall out among top executives each blaming each other for the misfortunes facing the company.
MTN’s top priority was the renewal of it’s license however it hit a snag after President Museveni expressed reservations that the telecom giant was taking out a lot of money from the country. Mr Museveni advised that the company goes public to enable Ugandans benefit more from the biggest company in the country.
The exit of Wim, has ushered in Gordian Kyomukama, an electrical engineer.
Kyomukama who was born in Kabale Town has his first job to ensure he brings to an end the crisis that has hit his company.
