The Police Director of Inspection, Assuman Mugyeni has advised artiste Bobi Wine to call off his Kyarenga Concert that was scheduled on Saturday, October 20 at Namboole Stadium.

The Police states that Namboole Stadium management gave them a list of events that were planned to happen from September 2018 to January 2019 and that Kyarenga Concert was not listed anywhere.

In the letter – signed by Mugyenyi on behalf of the Inspector General of Police – and addressed to ‘The Director Emma Promotions and Marketing Agency’, the Police advised them to call off this concert.

Emma Promotions are the official organizers of the Kyarenga concert.

“You are advised to call off the music show since you have not made any arrangements with the management of Mandela National Stadium to host the music show on the 20th day of October,” reads the letter in part.

Early this week, after returning from his trip to Kenya, the musician turned politician blamed Uganda Police for working around the clock to sabotage the concert.

“We have done everything required of us by law but it is apparent that the people in authority are doing everything possible to frustrate the concert. As things stand, the concert has been left in balance. A lot of money and time have been spent in advertisements and preparations,” Bobi, real name Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu posted on his facebook page.

Bobi also said that before scheduling the concert for 20th, he had booked October 13.  However, the management of the stadium requested organisers to change the dates to 20th because Uganda Cranes was to play an Afcon qualifier against Lesotho Crocodiles at the same venue.

“It is a day later that we saw a letter on social media addressed to us from Namboole saying that the 20th of October was also booked for a wedding. We asked for a copy of the letter to see if it was legitimate but it was not given to us,” he posted.

Last week, the management of Namboole Stadium wrote a letter to Emma Promotions Agency asking them to reschedule the Kyarenga concert because someone else had booked the venue for a wedding reception.
