Deputy speaker Jacob Oulanyah launches Guru-Guru Hill and Amuru Hot Springs as tourist attraction sites

Jacob Oulanyah Okori, the Deputy Speaker of Parliament on Monday launched Guru -Guru Hill and Amuru Hot springs as tourist attraction sites in northern Uganda.

Guru-guru hills are where the Lamogi rebelled against the British in 1911.

Oulanyah was accompanied by the State Minister for Tourism, Godfrey Kiwanda Ssubi, executive director of Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) Dr. Andrew Sseguya, Canadian based New Vision columnist Opiyo Oloya and Miss Tourism northern region among others on Saturday under the Tulambule campaign.

The group also visited Fort Patiko in Gulu built by Sir Samuel Baker to stop slavery, Aruu Falls in Pader and Wiipolo in Paimol Sub County, Agago district where Uganda Martyrs Daudi Okello and Jildo Irwa were killed for their religion

Other sites are Wii Gweng in Mucwini, Kitgum district where Archbishop Janani Luwum, killed by President Idi Amin, was buried.

Oulanyah urged government to construct the road leading to Guru Guru so that the place is accessible.
