Mansoor Kabugothe director of one of the successful football academy in Uganda,Kampala Junior Team (KJT) has unveiled his plan of constructing a Shs1 billion professional football training ground in the country.
Kabugo who founded KJT as Kampala Juniors League(KJL) way back in 2003,had a dream of using football to give a better future for the street children in Kampala whose dream expanded to even non-street children but with interest in football.
The notable big names that resulted from this dream include among other Farouk Miya,Alexis Bakka, Abdul Lumala,Paul Willa, Kizito Keziron, Salim Jamal,Muhamed Shaban, Abdul Lumala, Vianny Ssekajjigo and Halid Lwaliwa.
Others inculude, Bonny Baingana, Dan Bilikwalira, Julius Malyamungu, femalestars of Hasifah Nasuuna, Nambatya Favor, Nalujja Shamirah, Kalungi Vanesa and Natunga Janat.
In that case, Kabugo has organized a fundraising football festival on Friday 20th December 2019 at Star Times stadium Lugogo where the graduates of the academy ,current academy players, teams managers and selected fans shall entertain the rest with football matches with the entrance fee fixed at Shs5,000 ordinary and Shs20,000 VIP.
According to Kabugo, some of the foreign based players have confirmed participation and have promised to convince some of their club fans to escort them and also contribute to the same cause.
The festival shall kick off as early as 9:00 am and expected to climax by 7:00pm.
“A number of Ugandans especially the youth are underprivileged, they have no jobs but even their young ones are almost approaching their age to inherit the same problems. I want to construct a bigger training ground so that I can at least accommodate them in football because the game can change their future,” Said Kabugo.
KJT is currently in Kampala regional league and since its foundation, it has taken part in Sweden’s Gothia Cup and Norway Cup winning the former on seven occasions.
