ALDRINE NSUBUGA SNR: Dear Bebe Cool, If Mafias positioned you to get all the riches from NRM, why is it wrong if they also give a chance to Ronald Mayinja?

Bebe Cool vs Ronnie Mayas:
———————————————-
If you haven’t heard, it’s why the fly is here.

This is the summary. Bebe Cool is crying wolf – that the newbie, Ronald Mayinja, has taken over as the prized boy. That his ‘Muzei akalulu’ song was scandalously chosen to be the flagship for Muzei’s 2021 kalulu. That he has ‘kuyiwawo mubili’ for Muzei and has been battered for it for years naye ba Mafia bamulidewo. He feels humiliated, betrayed and exploited. ‘How can the party do this to me?’ he cries.

Analysis:

Like a petulant boy, Bebe feels entitled. Like a new bride, Mayinja is taking advantage of the moment. Entitlement vs Obugole.

Bebe –
The poster boy whose Hollywood looks and music style endear him to the youth and women. Big size. The Mafia don’t care. Tebakyagala kumanya.

Mayinja –
Tailor made for the local populace. Local origins, local looks, local voice, local style. If it wasn’t for his songs (not his singing), he would never have risen as star.

Both are celebrities from different worlds. Both represent different sides of society divide.

This is not Mayinja’s battle. Looks like a Bebe vs NRM battle. But definitely there is jealousy in the air. Why do I think Bebe is right to sulk! But then again, who told him he is a shareholder in NRM? I am sure it was the same Mafia who took him to muzei.

NRM must have realised that Bebe’s relevance to the youth appeal has shrunk because politically the youth are BOBI’s world. Politically therefore, Bebe’s relevance is no more. If these are 75+% of the population, why would you use Bebe’s songs? If you can’t get the youth, at least target the mass population at the base – the locals who are tailored for Mayinja’s music. You have a chance there.

Only problem is the lack of conviction and hypocrisy of Mayinja. In the past, he had one message. He believed in something. He had an identity. Now he doesn’t. The common man never misses that – they are more sensitive than we middle class. For this, I doubt that the gamble on Mayinja will pay off. His image is one of a traitor and opportunist. That’s fact. So who is listening to his song except the already converted?

From where I sit, it doesn’t matter whose song the NRM has chosen. Neither protagonists ( Bebe & Mayinja) hold any relevance to the politically emancipated youth now. Bebe should calm down.

There is however the big lesson – who is your own? How do you know you belong? Ani gwoyiira wo omubili? You can only put your life and body on the line for your own.

Bebe is now crying. But hasn’t he got so much from NRM already? Isn’t NRM and Muzei’s government responsible for Bebe’s supposed well being today? Aren’t the mafias the ones who positioned Bebe to get all the riches he has got from NRM to this day? Why is it wrong if the Mafias now want to give that chance to someone else even if it’s a newbie?

Banange ebyo bufuzi!!!! Politics!!

I thank God nze nabibuuka. I don’t get these people. All of them.

Bebe, lwaki todda ku ‘Aseno de ganazi’ yo netukukuba eddiba. Ba Mafia baviire. Leka ne Mayinja naye alyeko bannange. After all, mwenna muli bagenyi. Mwenna muja kukyaluka.
