Reknowned scholar Dr. Stella Nyanzi’s case in which she is accused of insulting the person of the President and his mother, has again been pushed to December 19, 2018.
The Makerere University research fellow appeared at court on Monday for hearing of her case, but since Kamasanyu was not around, Nyanzi was returned to Luzira Prison on orders of Justice Robert Mukhanza. She has been jailed for over a month now.
This follows the absence of the trial magistrate Justice Gladys Kamasanyu at the Buganda Road court on Monday.
Prosecution alleges that on September 19, 2018 Nyanzi willfully and repeatedly used electronic communication to post messages offensive in nature via Facebook transmitted over the internet to disturb or attempted to disturb the peace, quiet or right of privacy of President Yoweri Museveni with no purpose of legitimate communication.
Former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party president Dr. Kizza Besigye who was also at the court, encouraged Nyanzi to remain strong saying she will defeat might.
