The Eco Markets Empowerment Uganda (ECOME) in partnership with the Uganda Busoga Cultural Association of Canada (UBUCACA) and Global Event secretariat Canada (GES) have organized a Global Busoga Innovation Symposium & Expo. The expo is meant to raise awareness on the current situation in Busoga region to the Basoga living in the diaspora.

The Busoga Innovation Symposium and Expo is a non-profit, non-political, non-religious organization aiming at uniting Ugandans from all walks of life in Canada and other countries in diaspora. It is organizing an annual rotational event in all the European and Asian Countries and the 2022 edition shall be conducted in Toronto Canada in the September 2022 under the theme: “From Charity to Sustainability.”

This Expo is intended to unite HRH the Kyabazinga of Busoga together with his people living in diaspora to discuss and put up a framework on the implementation plan on issues that have affected Busoga region for a long time such as absolute poverty, unemployment especially in the youth, gender-based violence, teenage pregnancies and climate change affecting Agriculture in the Region due to COVID-19 Pandemic has adversely affected the whole country causing intervention of the Kyabazinga hence the involvement of his people in diaspora.

The Basoga living in diaspora thought of how to invest back home and how to improve their Region thus coming up with the plan of inviting their king to come to Canada to host his people and discus on possible approaches to the current situation. The symposium will advocate for unity of all Basoga and Ugandans in diaspora. Coming up with mitigating solutions to the problems affecting the Region and derive best approaches that can uplift the people of Busoga and Ugandans.

Hunger and all forms of malnutrition continue to cause widespread suffering throughout the world as a result of climate change. After years of steady progress, recent setbacks in the fight against hunger and malnutrition arising from the combined effects of high food prices and the global economic downturn coupled with the continuing problems of underdevelopment, civil strife, inadequate food supplies, social discrimination and environmental stress, jeopardize the earlier hopes for achieving the poverty, hunger and nutrition-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“With that in mind, Uganda Busoga Cultural Association of Canada (UBUCACA) in partnership with The Eco Markets Empowerment Uganda (ECOME)  and Global Event Secretariat Canada(GES) are organizing a visit of HRH the Kyabazinga of Busoga William Gabula Nadiope IV  and his team to Canada from the 27th to 30th September 2022 to host his people living in the diaspora and friends of Busoga to a number of events at The Global Busoga Innovation Symposium and Expo that will yield to a practical solution that will add value to Busoga as a Region and Uganda at large,” Milka Chebet the Administrator of Eco Markets Empowerment Uganda told this website.

The engagement seeks to among other things; Identify the opportunities and challenges and the way forward for promoting sustainability within the region, make young Ugandans in the diaspora understand roots, exhibit Uganda as a major investment opportunity, present the Busoga/Uganda tourist attraction to the North America, ensure vocational training for the youth through Skilling, sustainable agriculture methods, Trade and Industry, Infrastructure / real estate development in the region, among others.

Among other topics,  to address mindset change for sustainability, education, focusing on vocational training, agriculture, climate change, tourism, infrastructure development, settlement, among others
