STATE LODGE, NAKASERO: President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has congratulated Ugandans upon reaching this year’s Easter celebration. He also sent out his heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their loved ones due to Covid-19 and other natural causes in the last two challenging years.

“Country men and Women, greetings, I congratulate all of you on reaching this Easter. I congratulate you for reaching this Easter. I also want to express condolences to all Ugandans who died from corona or other causes in the last 2 years,” President Museveni said in a statement.

President Museveni commended Ugandans for standing with government in the fight against Covid-19. He said that Ugandans listened to his advice and that of scientists, which helped them fight the pandemic.

“I want to congratulate Ugandans by standing with us in the fight against corona. Up to date, we have lost only about 3,000 people. The number would have been higher if you had not cooperated with us,” he said.

The President said that if it were not for the indiscipline of some opposition groups that sparked off the second wave immediately after the general elections, the number of those who died would have been much lower.

“It was the indiscipline of some actors that caused the second wave. Therefore, Ugandans I want to congratulate you and emphasize that when we stand together there is nothing we cannot solve together,” he said.

On the issue of terrorism, President Museveni said that government is giving them a bloody nose and all of them will be no more soon. He saluted the Uganda People’s forces for fighting hard to defeat terrorism.

“We have given them a hard lesson, we are pushing them hard in Congo and the operation is continuing. We are now at the third phase. We shall defeat them,” he said.

On the crisis in Karamoja, President Museveni assured the Karimajongo and the country at large that the Karamoja issue will be solved. He said that UPDF is redeploying and soon the area will be peaceful.

He appealed to Ugandans now to concentrate on improving their household incomes using government programmes like The Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga among others.

“I want to appeal to Ugandans to concentrate on the issue of house hold incomes, using the Parish Development Model etc. I therefore once again want to congratulate you who have management to reach this season of Easter. May God Bless you” President Museveni said.
