Former state minister for tourism and NRM vice chairman Buganda region, Godfrey Kiwanda has also revealed that the late Ex-Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah told him too that he was poisoned.

Kiwanda made the shocking revelation while appearing on Capital FM’s popular talkshow ‘Capital Gang’ on Saturday.

“The late Rt. Hon Jacob Oulanyah told me too that he was poisoned,” said Kiwanda, adding that he finds no contraction with Oulanyah’s father who insists that his son was poisoned.

Yesterday, during the burial of Oulanyah in Omoro District, Nathan L’okori, insisted that his son was poisoned.

“I’m not mourning in vain. I want to say it clearly. Jacob was poisoned. He told me. The poison affected his health so much and by the time he was flown out for treatment, it was too late. He could not recover,” the teary Mr L’Okori told mourners.

The father also requested the current Speaker of Parliament Anita Among to take up the responsibilities which her predecessor left behind.

“Madam Speaker (Anita Among) you are now occupying Jacob Oulanyah’s chair. Jacob was like a father to us. You now have to take up that position and play the role of the parent to me,” he said.

“I expected the President to be here in person. Other duties have not allowed him to be here. Tell him that the government of Uganda should complete the house that Oulanyah was constructing. Oulanyah left many unfinished initiatives. The government of Uganda should finish Oulanyah’s house so that the income from it can be used to take care of his family and grandchildren he left behind.”

That was the second time Oulanyah’s father was saying that his son was poisoned. Hours after his death, Mr L’Okori claimed his son died of poison.

“I know very well that he was poisoned, and whatever somebody will say tomorrow should not distort the information we now have…. I don’t want somebody to bring their politics here,” Daily Monitor quoted Mr L’Okori.

Mr L’Okori further disclosed that Oulanyah revealed the cause of his illness, which suddenly began manifesting publicly after he became a Speaker last May, before he travelled for specialised medical care in abroad.

“He (Oulanyah) called and promised me certain things and what he told me I know very well,” he added.

However, the father didn’t reveal the identity of the person who may have poisoned Oulanyah.

The former Speaker died on Sunday 20th March, 2022 in Seattle, USA where he had gone to receive specialised treatment for cancer.
