COVID-19: Kisoro district tightens border security after intercepting positive case at Cyanika

Kisoro district has tightened its Border Security than before after one positive case was intercepted at Cyanika Border on Friday. Daudi Noor Ali is one of the 11 Positive cases confirmed on Thursday by the ministry of Health.

The new 11 positive cases included six Tanzanian truck drivers who arrived via Mutukula Border post and five Kenyan truck drivers.

According to Dr. Henry Mwebesa, the director general of health services at the Ministry of Health, three Kenyan drivers arrived via Malaba Border Post while two arrived via Busia Border Post.

Dr Mwebesa said that the 11 COVID-19 positive cases were from 1,020 samples tested from truck drivers at border points of entry. The Kisoro district task force led by the RDC captain Peter Mugisha and LCV Abel Bizimana has confirmed the development.

Daudi Noor Ali was intercepted at Cyanika while driving vehicle truck number KBZ 857F as he was with Abdiwahab Saidi Issaik the turn boy at Cyanika.

According to Mr. Nick Muneza the district Surveillance officer, He exited Uganda in April 21st through Cyanika border post to Rwanda and he arrived on Friday morning at Cyanika where he was intercepted.

Abel Bizimana the Kisoro LC5 boss said that the Kenyan has been driven to Kabale regional referral hospital as his conductor Abdiwahab has also been put under quarantine at St Francis hospital mutorele.

Bizimana said that this case has thrown the district into panic and crisis as the medical teams are now tracing all his contacts in Kisoro.

The district Chairperson called upon the People in Kisoro to follow the Presidential Directives and ministry of Health Guidelines than never before.

Captain Peter Mugisha the Kisoro RDC said that they are now to intensify operations now that they have been hit. He says that they are not going to allow anyone that tries to defy the president’s directives saying no one is to be allowed to move in towns of Kisoro as well the border towns of Cyanika and Bunagana.
