Renowned Mukono child rights advocate Rev. Dr. Kefa Sempangi will next month turn 80 years and he has invited President Yoweri Museveni, Speaker Rebecca Kadaga among others to grace the function.
The party is being organized by the over 6,000 former street children he has raised, living in Uganda and in the diaspora. They will will coincide with the revival of his Africa Foundation Inc, the organization under which he rehabilitated them.
Other invited guests include the Katikkiro of Buganda,. Deputy Speaker Jacob Oulanyah, first lady Janet Museveni, religious and cultural leaders, members of the diplomatic corps, outstanding businessmen and opinion leaders.
In an interview at his home on Wednesday, Sempangi who confirmed all the above said he has already received donations of cows to be slaughtered from Minister of Gender Hajat Janat Mukwaya, and State Minister for Water Ronald Kibuule.
On revival of the Africa Foundation, Sempangi said that most of children he brought up are orphans, and so have neither known relatives nor homes to go to, and are looking at the proposed centre as their burial ground on death.
“Some have produced children and they are worried they will have nowhere to bury them should death strike and, besides, the grandchildren are pushing their parents to show them their grand parents, hence the need to set up the home for them”, he said.
