Businessman who was forced to go to Equity Bank on his hospital bed to withdraw money dies

John Zabakungu, a patient who was pictured a fortnight ago withdrawing money while still connected to an oxygen tank is dead.

According to relative, Zabakungu breathed his last on Sunday afternoon at Mulago Hospital.

In the photo, which made rounds online was taken at an Equity Bank branch in Kampala, Zabakungu is seen surrounded by two caretakers in blue and maroon clinical attire. The patient lies ill on a wheel chair by the bank counter. The money he was to withdraw was reportedly for an emergency heart operation.

He was reportedly being transferred to Nakasero Hospital from Norvik.

“A customer has to come from his hospital bed (with his Oxygen Tank in tow) to sign for his cash. At Equity Bank,” one of the captions to the photo reads.
