Lokodo wants Pastor Bugingo stripped of his clerical robes

The State Minister for Ethics and Integrity, Fr Simon Lokodo has asked House of Prayer Ministries International’s Aloysius Bugingo to quit his role as pastor.

Lokodo, who was addressing journalists on Wednesday at Parliament said Bugingo must be stopped from preaching because he is disrespecting not only his wife, but every Ugandan.
“I advise Pastor Bugingo to remove his robes and never stand on the pulpit as a pastor again. And I also advise his followers to leave his church and go find other churches,” he said.

Lokodo also welcomed the move by the Born Again Pentecostal Church leaders in Uganda who denounced and disassociated themselves from Bugingo.

On Tuesday, Born Again Pentecostal Church leaders in Uganda, issued a statement narrating that on May 14, 2019, they met and warned Bugingo to stop using his pulpit and media to settle his family and marital affairs.

“Whereas Pastor Aloysius Bugingo decided to work independently and does not recognise nor subscribe to any of the Umbrella Organisations that bring together Evangelical and Pentecostal Churches for mutual support and accountability, we feel that the matter relating to him and his wife has escalated to a level that concerns all of us- the body of Christ and the general public,” reads part of the statement.

Since May this year, Bugingo has been having family issues with his wife Teddy Naluswa.
Last week, he used his pulpit to tell his followers that Naluswa had sexually starved him for 10 years while suffering from fistula.

“I have tried to always keep quiet to respect Teddy but she is playing the sympathy card too much. She says she has been with me for 29 years through thick and thin. But how come she doesn’t talk about her haemorrhage (fistula). My wife bled for 10 years. Every single day, I bought cotton since pads could no longer contain her flow. I didn’t have sex for those 10 years. I didn’t even cheat. How come I didn’t get another woman in those years? Surely people must know that if I were to leave, it would have been then. I have been patient, I have tried all my best to make this thing work. Let her stop claiming she is the one who tried her best.”

Now Lokodo believes with such mannerisms, Bugingo is not helping the people he preaches to but he is just sending them to hell.
“Spiritually Bugingo is not nourishing his followers but he has malnourished them,” he added.
