Five-time body building champion Ivan Byekwaso has finally come out of hiding to reveal the reason why many believed he had died.

In September last year, Byekwaso who many christened ‘Mr Uganda’, a national and world legend in body building was announced dead, with reports all over social media that he was found lying lifeless in his hotel room in Germany.

Since then, there was no official word or communication from Byekwaso’s camp on whether the rumours were true or unfounded. Others insisted that he was still alive and okay but no one knew of his whereabouts.

However, earlier last week, Byekwaaso posted on his official facebook page confirming that he is alive and also revealing the exact reason behind his AWOL stunt.

Mr Uganda said he had been imprisoned in Germany over claims that he had forcefully had sex with a woman. The woman of Ugandan origin, whose identity was withheld in the statement report to the German police, allegedly pinned Byekwaso for raping her.

Investigations were opened onto the matter as he was kept behind bars. He went on to thank the German police criminal investigations department for helping him get his freedom back and revealing the truth behind the allegations.

“Dear friends, thank you for your prayers. I am still alive and I have gained my freedom. As it’s written in the bible proverbs 12:19; Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment. I was framed with rape by a fellow Ugandan whose names I won’t mention and have been under investigation. I want to thank the German criminal investigations police department for the great work done in ensuring I get my freedom and that the truth is revealed,” he posted on his official facebook page.

Byekwaso also promised to make a comeback into the sport and has asked his fans to stay calm and patient.
