Salaam Musumba; Abed Bwanika is a political hawker

The Forum for Democratic Change Eastern Region vice president, Proscovia Salaam Musumba has branded the president of the People’s Development Party Abed Bwanika a ‘political hawker’.

Last week, four-time presidential candidate Rtd Col Dr Kiiza Besigye unveiled his Peoples’ Government cabinet, which excluded some opposition members.

Bwanika, who is a member of the Democratic Party Block (a coalition which was made to unite all the former DP members) said the cabinet was a misleading move orchestrated by FDC to disorganise unity in opposition.

Bwanika said the cabinet would have made sense in 2016 after the last elections but unveiling it now while people are looking at 2021 was a disaster.

However, in an interview with Watchdog Uganda on Monday, Musumba who is ‘prime minister’ in the people’s government, said the cabinet has been there since after general elections of 2016.

“This cabinet has been there the moment Dr Besigye was imprisoned for swearing in as the President of people. We only did not announce it then. But if people like Bwanika come out and attack this, I don’t wonder.  Bwanika has been a political hawker since I have known him,” said Musumba.

She also added that it takes only an enemy to the opposition to say that the newly unveiled cabinet of people’s government was meant to disorganize the opposition. “We are all fighting to remove Museveni and we have not refused any move to unity but for us, this is our move and we have our structures to follow,” she added.

According to Musumba, in politics, there are two types of people; those who see politics as a business and those who are ‘serious like us.’

However, Bwanika said on Saturday that time will judge the ‘serious politicians’ and ‘moles’.
