A 40-man team of Kenyan officials, led by the Governor of Bungoma County Wycliff Wangamati has visited Namunkekeera Agricultural Processing Industries Ltd (NAPIL) at Kapeeka in Nakaseke district.
NAPIL which was set up by the Director for Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) and President Museveni’s younger brother Gen Caleb Akandwanaho (Salim Saleh), was commissioned by the President last February.
The Kenyan delegation was on a benchmarking mission to identify investment opportunities in Uganda were invited by Uganda’s High Commissioner to Kenya, Phoebe Awere Otaala , and were received at Kapeeka by OWC directors of Policy and Planning Sarah Kataike Ndoboli, and of Inputs Brig. Elly KLayanja who represented Gen. Saleh.
Earlier in the day, they paid a courtesy call to the Second Deputy Prime Minister Haji Ali Kirunda Kivejinja at his office. Hajji Kiveninja noted that the phosphate industry commissioned this week by President Museveni at Osukuru in Tororo district will benefit all East and Central African countries.
At Kapeeka, the team was taken around the ceramics factory, the food processing technology undertaken by Chinese experts, a fish feeds processing unit and a big capacity maize mill.
She said besides opening a window to job creation, Gen Saleh’s investment has gone a long way in adding value to Uganda’s home products and making gigantic strides in the poverty reduction among Ugandans.

Kataike noted that Gen Saleh’s investment has shown that transformation of rural areas through industrialization is for real, adding, that Kapeeka which was a typical remote village is now a modern place with banks, modern
utilities and an attraction to new investors.
