Umeme teaches kids Safety and Environment at the Green Festival

Umeme, Uganda’s main electricity distribution company was among the many partners which gave color to the Green Festival that took place last Sunday at Kololo Independence Grounds.

The fun-filled event aims at encouraging children embrace the culture of conserving the environment through planting trees.

Umeme officials led by Mr. Selestino Babungi, the company’s Managing Director offered precautionary measures to children on how they could protect themselves from the dangers of electricity.

Mr. Selestino also urged kids to plant trees as the best way of protecting the environment.

“Kids should always endeavor to plant trees since it is the best way of protecting our environment,” he said.

Mr. Joseph Masembe, the founder and CEO of Little Hands Go Green thanked Umeme for taking for sensitizing the kids about the environment and how to be safe from electricity.

Every child took home a tree seedling and parents had to register the their kids before taking the seedlings.
